Foster Grandparents...

Community Action matches low-income seniors with children having special needs. The Foster Grandparent volunteer receives a small stipend, hot meals, yearly physical exams, sick leave, annual leave, paid holidays, transportation, and a variety of personal services for a 20-40 hour week.

Foster Grandparents are being recruited throughout the entire six counties of our service area, and in Macon County. To become a volunteer, one must be 55 years of age, in good health, and within the income guidelines.

Foster Grandparents provide love and attention to children in sites ranging from the Head Start Centers, Child Care facilities, to public and private schools. Community Action is now establishing additional host sites for Foster Grandparent Volunteers throughout our service area.
